Stealing From Siblings

Now admit it, girls. We've all done it.

Clothes, shoes, socks, jewelry, perfume, nail-polish and pony-tails. We've all stolen them from our sisters, or been robbed ourselves.

Well, a few days ago, I walked into my sisters room. She was on her computer, with her back facing me. I walked up to the dresser, where she keeps a lot of her perfume and lotion and stuff.

Now I'm admitting to it, I steal quite often. What?! I mean, who else has the most awesome Bath and Body Works scents then your 18 year-old sister?

I saw this strange bottle. Frosted Vanilla. Oh yeah. It was a buttery, creamy color. So tempting. I tried to smell it, but there was no way to do it without spraying it.

So, I picked it up, and gave it a good squirt in the air. That's where I went wrong.

My sister whirled around with a disgusted look on her face and said, "Did you spray that?"

"Yeah?"

"That's vinegar and lemon juice!"

Yeah... so the room kinda smelled bad for a little while! She uses the strange mixture to do natural highlights in her hair... and she had just happened to put it in a leftover spray bottle... Sibling trap, if you ask me.

And the point of this blog post, you ask? Well, many a time have I rushed into my sister's room to steal some perfume, literally seconds before leaving the house. Can you imagine what would have happened if I used the "Frosted Vanilla Body Mist?"right before leaving for church? No, its too horrible to think about.

Please be careful when stealing from siblings. Results may be disastrous.

Do You Like Adventures?

Witnessing a train robbery, being stranded miles from town, running out of gas in an airplane, landing on a deserted Hawaiian island, being kidnapped, and barely escaping from a volcano disaster. It's all happened to Dot and Herbert.

I've been writing at The Story Blog for quite some time now! It's so much fun, and I thank Rachel for letting me join!

The Story Blog is where you can read all about the Adventures of Dot and Herbert, a young married couple in the 1940s, who are always in the middle of something exciting! Right now, a close friend of theirs has suddenly gone missing, and Dot is determined to take things into her own hands... But maybe that isn't such a good idea...

If You Were My Best Friend

Elisha had this wonderful post, and I asked her if I could do it too!

If you were my best friend, you would know that...

--I am a major night owl.

--Math makes me very grumpy.

--I have a major addiction to dill pickles.

--I don't usually like icecream with 'things' in it. Cookies crumbs, chocolate chips, and everything else can just stay out of my bowl.

--I love watching and playing sports. I can't say I'm any good at it, but I still enjoy it. Football is my favorite.

--I adore 100 degree weather.

--I'm very near-sighted.

--I try to sing along with Josh Groban on all his high songs. Epic fail.

--I dream of being an author one day.

--Blue is my favorite color, then green.

--I love to act, and can get quite silly at times.

--Bad grammar makes me cringe. Bad spelling makes me cringe.

--I love clothes shopping.

--Once, I played my violin in front of 700 people. Oh, did I happen to mention that I was chewing gum and didn't know that my face was on the big screen?

--I can't get enough of I Love Lucy and The Big Valley.

--I have very small feet. I usually wear a size 4.

--I hate hotdogs.

--I am extremely talkative, and it may take several tries to get me to shut up.

--I have an adopted duck that lives somewhere else.

--Getting up in front of people doesn't really bother me.

--I love a good historical fiction or mystery.

--Old movies are awesome.

--My hair is as thick as a tree trunk.

--Curious George is epic. Awesome. And yes, I am 13.

--I hate tennis shoes. What, you've never played tennis is flip-flops before? You haven't lived.

--I love my state football team.

--I really like baby-sitting.

Two Videos

My sisters and I sang a trio on Sunday. I sang soprano, Sarah (on the right) sang second soprano and Lauren (on the left) sang alto.

Then, my sisters and I played the first part of the entertainer by Scott Joplin. Lauren took the music and marked the spots we were supposed to play. For fun, she made it where we were jumping all over the place! Plus, we added the scale at the end.

Every Step of the Way, Part 4

Every Step of the Way, Part 4

The fat innkeeper raced up the stairs. He reached their door and banged upon it with all his might. He twisted the knob, and the door flew open. They were gone. He gasped.
“Mathias! Mathias!” he went running down the stairs. The younger man rushed up to him.
“What is it?” he asked.
“It is her! She has escaped!” the innkeeper cried. They ran out the front door. But Catherine and her loyal servants were nowhere in sight.
***
“Maybe we can board this one,” Catherine puffed, pointing to the large, wooden ship.
“How will we? You gave the innkeeper the last of the money,” I said. Catherine sighed.
“I know, but maybe they will take something else. We must try,” she said. Something else? Like what? The only valuable possession Catherine had brought with her was her necklace, and it was probably around the neck of the barge owner’s wife by now.
Catherine walked up to the ship’s captain. I watched her argue with him. He looked down at her clothing. He nodded his head and strolled away. Catherine eagerly joined us.
“He says since I am a merchant’s wife, he will take me,” she smiled. Her disguise was working!
We followed her up the plank and down into the hold. It was very dark. It was cold. And it smelled awful. The place was small, and I squeezed up against Edith. Cold air seeped through the walls. The boat jerked, and we were on our way.
***
I barely heard the frightened cries of little Susan. A strong, fierce wind pounded on the sides of the boat. Rain came down in torrents, making water drip into the damp hold. I could hear the cries and yells of the sailors overhead. My heart pounded. What would happen to us? Would the boat sink? Would we drown? I looked frantically at Catherine. She rocked Susan and quietly sang a song. How could she be so calm? I sank back against the wall. Catherine had faith; that’s why. She was trusting in God. I took a deep breath.

Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. ~ Psalm 23: 4

A wave of assurance swept over me. God is here, watching over us. I was able to lay down and close my weary eyes.
***

I woke up the next morning and looked around. Catherine, Edith and Agnes were gone. I walked sleepily out on the deck. I gasped. We weren’t in the Netherlands at all! We were back on the tiny Leigh dock where we started. Catherine was talking to the captain. I pulled Edith aside.
“What has happened?” I asked.
“The winds drove us back,” she sighed. “We’re going to try and sail again this afternoon. Catherine is not very happy.” I didn’t blame her. Someone could spot us. Catherine finished talking to the captain and joined our group.
“Captain Miller says we will sail in an hour. Helen, run to shore and get some provisions.”
“With what?” I asked. Catherine handed me some money.
“This is from the captain,” she said. “Buy food for us, the captain, and the crew. Understood?” I nodded my head and raced down the gangplank. I had barely made it off the harbor when someone grabbed my shoulder. I screamed.
“Who’s on that boat?” a rough voice asked. I turned. Two men stood in front of me.
“Why?” I asked. “What is it to you?” My heart pounded.
“We’re looking for a woman named Catherine Bertie. Know her?” the other asked.
“No. That lady is a merchant’s wife,” I said.
“Oh, really. A merchant’s wife with three servants?” I gulped.
“Well-I-she-“ I stuttered.
“Yes?” the rough one asked.
“We’re just traveling with her,” I said. “Besides, do you think this ‘Catherine’ would travel in broad daylight? Men, I think you’re wasting your time,” I said, walking away. I could feel them staring me down as I walked on. I rounded the corner and let out a sigh. That was too close for comfort.

To Be Continued!

P.S. You may be wondering, "Why hasn't Kathryn been commenting on my blog or entering any of my contests lately?!" I admit I haven't been commenting or entering on anyone's blogs lately!! I'm sorry! I just haven't been on the computer much :)

August Photo-a-Day Challenge!!

Hey, guys!

I do have a legitimate reason for not posting much lately. My sisters and I are playing for a wedding tomorrow and we have been practicing a lot! I haven't really had time to blog :)

Anyway, Ali and Kianna Rose have started this really neat thing called August Photo-a-day Challenge. It's where you take a picture of something each day for the whole month of August. Instead of posting your picture every day, you post them each week on a Friday. Get it?

Since August started on Wednesday, I only have three photos to show you. :)

Day 1: Simplicity
Day 2: Toes. And no, when I started blogging I never thought I would be posting a picture of my toes. :D
Day 3: Books

Later!
